Apple
Valley Fire Public Safety Fund raises money to support firefighting efforts in the Apple Valley,
CA community. This fund will assist in the acquisition of rescue medical and fire
equipment, as well as provide public safety education
and victim assistance.
The Apple Valley Fire Department recently purchased two
Jaws of Life. The Jaws of Life equipment helps extricate victims of
automobile accidents from their mangled cars. Because there was no
grant funding for this equipment, the community responded with
donations.. Now, because of the fund, all donations are
tax-deductible.
The Apple Valley Fire Public Safety Fund is now seeking
donations to purchase automatic external heart defibrillators. The Fund
would like to provide defibrillators at other places where people
congregate, like Town Hall, council chambers, etc. The Apple Valley
Senior Citizens Club was provided with a defibrillator last year.
Providing medical equipment to be kept at appropriate locations is a goal
of the Fund.
Of course, public safety education is always an important part of fire
prevention. Money received through donations helps provide regular
emergency preparedness, educational activities for school-age children and
others.
The Apple Valley Fire Public Safety Fund also supports the "Secret
Santa". During the holiday season, accidental Christmas tree
fires can destroy homes, displacing a family and losing all the children's
gifts. Using donated money, the fire department can help a family
with food and living expenses, and even replace some of the lost
presents. Fire personnel are particularly interested in helping
families in these situations because they see the damage first hand.
This is a win-win situation for everyone. The community makes
tax-deductible donations to the Apple Valley Fire Public Safety Fund and
gets the money back in the form of improved fire services and
equipment.
