In the 1940's and 1950's, Dale Evans Rogers and her
late husband, Roy Rogers, were the popular singing stars of countless
western television programs and movies.
Their signature song, "Happy Trails", written by Dale,
represented the wholesome ideals and strong moral values they shared
with fans around the world.
From Uvalde, Texas, to Chicago and a radio career,
she moved to Hollywood and was cast opposite Roy Rogers.
Dale and Roy were married in 1946 and together they made movies
for the silver screen and had their own television production company.
Their movies are still shown world-wide.
Dale Evans received the Mother of the Year Award
(1967), The Texas Press Association's Texan of the Year (1970), Cowgirl
Hall of Fame (1995), Cardinal Terence Cook Humanities Aware (1995) and
has three stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Full
retirement is elusive for Dale. She
is very visible in the community, and recently had an autograph party at
The Museum for her new book Rainbow
on a Hard Trail. She
continues with her television show, "A Date with Dale" through
TBN Broadcasting. Her
"quality time" is spent as matriarch to a small nation of 16
grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren…and counting.
