Grant Guidelines:
Grant seekers are encouraged to discuss their idea with
Foundation staff, or submit a brief letter of intent describing the project for
which the funding is sought, prior to submitting a complete application. The
Foundation may proactively initiate discussion with community groups when its
Board of Directors perceives a need.
Grant-making Policy
Proposals are considered on the basis of how they will
help the Foundation fulfill its mission. The Foundation favors innovative
proposals that:
Originate in the private sector and demonstrate strong volunteer
involvement.
Promote collaboration and reduce service duplication.
Strengthen the ability of our community to respond more
effectively to needs.
Help people to help themselves.
Build upon the strengths of the community.
Apply the Foundation's resources where they will make a tangible
difference in meeting an important community need.
What We Look For
Special emphasis is given to funding ideas in the areas of our mission statement
including:
Social Services
Health
Arts
Resource Preservation (including
historical & cultural)
Education
The Foundation attempts to understand both the specific objectives of a request
and the long-term benefits that will be derived by the community if the project is funded.
What We Don't Fund
The Foundation does not generally fund applications from unrestricted funds for:
Annual Campaigns
Debt Retirement
Direct Support of Individuals
Operating Losses
Endowments
Lobbying
Routine Operating Expenses
Sectarian Causes
